Can I migrate data from a IBM-R40-Thinkpad to an IBM IdeaPad Y510 laptop?
The Thinkpad has infer-red port. I’ve not yet recieved the y510.
Copying your data to a disk will transfer a virus just as well as using a thumb drive, fire wire, or IF. Run your virus scanner first, then use the windows data export program. It will walk you through all the steps and bring all the files you need and leave the other things behind. The fastest way to transfer data is via firewire or another cable method. Using a USB is another way and is a little slower. Using a DVD or CD depending on if you have a DVD burner in it can be a little quicker and would provide you with a back up disk. Not a bad idea there. Wireless is slowest method.
